Happy St. Valentine's Day!

Our IAST #297 featured the suggestion of a heart in the string and three love-ly tangles.  I trust the results will add the cherry on top of your sweet celebrations.

Here's my tile for this week's challenge. I always enjoy around Valentine's day because hearts are my favourite shape. They're everywhere! And drawing them is my usual go to doodle so I love all 3 of these tangles. I enjoyed making this very much. Thank you for a fun challenge.

I can heart-ly control myself! I wondered ... LG as a chain ... Heart Box mashed with LG ... and what would Funsin look like in a fragment on point? The fragment meta design offers another heart.

I had no plan for how this tile should look when I started working on it, which literally got me lost drawing the chosen patterns.
I drew Funsin first using the curves of the string as its midline and adding bright colour to its hearts.
Heart Box didn’t exactly get boxed because I drew the grid lines in pencil then forgot to outline them in ink.
LG was my favourite of the patterns to draw because of its repeating auras; and being able to add so much shading, more colour, and touches of gold to the tile.

So I did kind of a “less is more” and used Ratoon with your LG. I admire everyone whose Ratoon was smooth and symmetrical. After several tries I decided lopsidedness was charming.

Happy Valentine’s Day everyone. I love an excuse to get out the red pen! I often admire tiles where people have left lots of blank space “less is more”. I find it hard not to fill the tile but I have tried to leave some space here.

Here is my contribution for this valentinechallenge. I love the three
tangles, but I would never think to use just these 3 ones on one tile
but thanks to you I did and I am satisfied about the result. I just
added fragment K14 in the corners that I painted black before.
We just moved and I have no scanner at the moment, I just made a picture
and the final results are always better with the scanner and the use of
Photoshop. That is why, I think the parts with the white charcoals and
gellypen, looks blue, but it is not so bad... Anyway, I'm glad to have
joined I.A.S.T. 279 and I'm looking forward to see the other tiles.

...Here Summer is flexing its muscle to ward off the coming Autumn, so we are having sweltering heat. So tiring.
Anyway tile 279 is a reminder to us that love is in the air with Valentine’s just around the corner. Maybe also a wake-up call to love one another, no matter what, throughout the year. I enjoyed the experience revisiting the theme, as well as the old favourite patterns - so soothing to draw.

"It's a String Thing" #230 Tiles

Hearts ruled for the second week of IAST.  We used two heart filled tangles paired with the checkered Knightsbridge and you are sure to fall in love with the results.

Here's my attempt for this week.
I'm impressed with myself that I thought up the graphite Knightsbridge, but the attempt at combining Skelter and Funsin didn't wow me so much. I actually kept slipping away from Skelter, or was it the other way round? I kept thinking I knew how to achieve the look of it but every time I thought I had it figured out, the next attempt would fox me, rendering me very frustrated.
Hope you had a happy Valentine's Day! I liked the pictures of Pauline that you put up recently! How soon they grow up!

Hi Adele! I just love the story and the pictures of your granddaughter's pig tails! She looks adorable and oh my, she has grown. I'm glad you had a great trip to my state, California with your family! Congratulations to Pauline for her First Communion! I also love your pattern and will have to try it out! I wished I had your tip sheet for Funsin! Fantastic tips and I love how you changed it up! I forget that there are no rules and I should just do what is easier for me! After several attempts and tiles, I cheated and did not draw a border, but I planted my hearts in the corners and worked that way, which was still hard to do, but, it was fun, once I got a rhythm going! This and Skelter were new to me. I had a few opportunities for both! When I thought I was done my Skelter hearts were screaming to be colored! Thank you for the wonderful challenge this week! I enjoyed it! I look forward to seeing everyone's tile for this week!

Thank you for the challenge this week - I did enjoy the contrast of the patterns. although for some reason I can't seem to do 'Knightsbridge' without messing up at least one square! Thank goodness for white ink.
Am having fun with the tiny houses, as well. I made one for my folks, as I mentioned last week, and am hoping when they receive it that it will pop back into shape without too much trouble. (Created one for us, too; both are 'personalized' with little bits and references to our homes.) So enjoyable to do!

I started my tile early this week and was interrupted. I had full intentions of using all three patterns ... Skelter is such a pretty tangle ... but I lost patience with myself through all my clumsy versions as I practiced Skelter. (I think I need a Tips for Tangling!!). Donna Lacy’s Knightspeek, along with a little Beadline filled in and soothed an otherwise heartbreaking week.
If you look closely, you might see a shadowy heart (s)peaking out quietly within the grid for Florida-Strong.

I know this is late but I just had my idea while in the shower getting ready for bed. So now it’s way past my bedtime but had to do it while it was fresh in my mind.
Skelter grew on me and when I have more time I’d like to work on shading the main hearts more. Funsin was a challenge and needs more work. Knightsbridge came to me as using your string as the pattern/background.

Hope you are well. Congratulations on your granddaughter, Pauline’s first Holy Communion. Our children are special, but our grandchildren are precious,s enjoy each one of them.
Thank you very much for spreading the word about our plight here in the Western Cape of South Africa, where we are experiencing the worst drought ever. Most responsible citizens are doing their best to save water and be compliant to the terms announced by the provincial government concerning our daily water usage. Awareness and personal action is a daily priority. Tuesday, last week no rain predicted for Cape Town, but miraculously the elements all suddenly appeared in the late afternoon and the city experienced a massive electric storm, hail and quick, torrential downpours. Some commuters on the way home, stopped on the highways to praise Lord. A miracle!
Anyway, about this week’s challenge. I found it more challenging than some. Couldn’t get my head around putting the chosen zentangle together, but eventually I managed to produce tile 230!
Lovely patterns, Skelter by Debbie Raaen is a winner. Practise, practise. Fusin, by Yu Ru Chen Is an old favourite as is Knightsbridge by Rick and Maria. My zen was on a short vacation this week.
But I participated that’s the best part of it all.
