"It's a String Thing" #250 Tiles - WooHoo!

What a festive challenge this was!  We celebrated the Fourth of July and the 250th "It's a String Thing" tangled adventure.

Let's take a look ~

The first tile arrived from Baafke (The Netherlands) ~
Congratulations with number 250!
Thank you for your beautiful website, inspiration and challenges!
OP to the 300
Tangled Tidbit -
*lovely Tira and Ahh
Thank you, Baafke.

From Ria Matheussen, CZT (Belgium) ~
Congratulations with 250 challenges.
I hope you are enjoying the fourth of July.
My composition is made on a watercoloured background in the national colours of the U.S.A. (white, blue and red)
I tried to create an illusion of an open window where big clouds full of tangles ( AHH and Tira) can come in.
I enjoyed this special challenge very much and wish you succes with the next 250 ones!!!!!
Warm regards from Belgium

Welcome to our IAST community and welcome to our Tangled Map ~

From Sally Whiteman (New Zealand) ~
Congratulations on 250 challenges posted. That is alot of work and it is most appreciated.
These tangles were very interesting to do. It is great to learn all these new tangles.
Tangled Tidbit -

Thank you, Sally.

From Lynn G (Florida) ~
Congratulations on your 250th!
Tangled Tidbit -
*golden hues for both tangles
Thank you, Lynn.

From Nord'zin (Wales, United Kingdom) ~
I loved your table remake - fabulous.**
Sorry to miss challenge #249 - I was camping in Pembrokeshire and the weather was rather good so were out and about all day. I very much enjoyed seeing everyone else’s tiles.
The previous week was rather wet, with more time to draw, and so I did send you a tile for #248, but internet connection at the campsite was not reliable and I’m sorry you didn’t receive it.
I found this lovely photo box in a craft shop. It is a perfect size for displaying 4 tiles and storing others inside. I have stained the wood blue to give the tiles a good frame. Here it is with a glimpse of my tile for challenge #248 with drupe - which was a new tangle for me.
Here also is my tile for challenge #250. Congratulations on this notable anniversary. An amazing achievement. Although I have only recently joined, I am impressed at your having created 250 challenges. I look forward to the next 250!

Tangled Tidbit -
*golden string lines, pretty coloring and tangles
Thank you, Nord'zin and thanks for sending in a photo of that wonderful display piece.

From Ragged Ray (United Kingdom) creator of Tira! ~
It's hard to believe it's been five years since I started tangling – when I began I surely had no idea of the long-lasting and profound role it would play in my life. I can't imagine myself without it now. And of course you and your challenges have been constant throughout those five years. My first tile to you was actually for challenge #7, while for challenge #8 you picked my tile for your honours. In fact I first started practising in my sketchbook from challenge #4. Attached is a photo in case I've never shown you before!
It's been unusually hot here in the UK over the past couple of weeks, something we're not used to and struggle to cope with. I find myself sluggish, struggling to find energy or focus even for those things I love to do. But just enough to add a little ink and pencils to this colourful background. My Tira tangle spins across, while Ahh explodes in a shower of sparks.
In my mind I like to believe fireworks can write messages against the sky, just like they do at the end of the film Annie. And if they could mine would spell out 'Congratulations Adele!'. 250 challenges is a mighty achievement, it takes stamina and commitment, you should be proud of yourself - and I for one am very thankful to you for all that you do to encourage us and inspire us.

Thank you, Jem, the feeling is mutual, I assure you.

From Lisette (Switzerland) ~

Thank you for the love!

From VenaC (Whitby, Ontario, Canada) ~
On holiday for two weeks on an island near Nanaimo, British Columbia. The weather is not as excruciatingly hot at the moment here as it was in Ontario when we left. Hope you had a good 4th of July.
Tangled Tidbit -
*ribbon, sparkled string line
Thank you for sending in your tile on your vacation!

From Priscilla DeConti, CZT (Kingston, New York) ~
What a wonderful accomplishment! 250 challenges...that is so wonderful..Sorry I have missed a couple of weeks, but did not want to miss this one..
Here is my tile for the week
Have a great week all and thanks Adele for the wonderful challenges may you have 250 + more!!!!
Tangled Tidbit -
*white dots add sparkle and dimension
Thank you, Priscilla.

From Angie Gittles, CZT 29 (Maryland) ~
I promise the original string is in there. Do you see it? While I think this turned out interesting, I wish the 3 focal points didn’t remind me of creepy-crawlies crawling across the tile front...lol.
Tangled Tidbit -
*great imagery with Tira
I do see the string :)

From Gabi (Germany) ~
Here my Version of Tira for 250th IAST on a water color tile inspired by summer:

From Marjan Heemskerk (The Netherlands) ~
From the Netherlands very warm congratulations with IAST 250. You really reach so many people over the world and knowing that we are so different but that we have one thing in common: Zentangle! That idea warms my heart. Thank you for making this possible!
Tangled Tidbit -
*Tira accented string lines, patriotic colors
Thank you, Marjan.

From Cha'Co (France) ~
This is my contribution for the IAST #250. To make an incredible firework, I also used your tangle O...
Tangled Tidbit -
*O  is a great addition!

From Maria B (Canada) and on Instagram ~
Birthday string! This went a little random, but I too see these tangles as fireworks and here they light the sky over other random tangling during bits of found time between reno tasks. This week I managed to finish on time, but I need to show last week which took a bit longer because the end result was so fun and very different from how I normally see Abeco!
Tangled Tidbit -
*lovely tangles and combinations

From Sharon Fite (California) ~
Here's my tile for this week's challenge. Lots of July references -- fireworks (of course!), Ferris wheel, rollercoaster, and play balls. I added Spoken, U-TOO, and Jetties to Tira and Ahh tangles. As a couple of other tangle challenges take a well-deserved break, I'm sending you a big "Thank you," Adele, for all you do to bring our Zentangle community this weekly challenge! IAST keeps the pen in my hand and tiles on table, and it connects me to the creative worldwide Zentangle experience. Zenhugs!
Tangled Tidbit -
*wonderful tangle additons
Thank you, Sharon.  I cherish your encouraging words, "IAST keeps the pen in my hand and tiles on the table."

From Cyndee Pelley (Oklahoma) and here on her website ~
Greetings from Oklahoma Adele! And a huge congratulations on making to challenge 250! How exciting
Here’s my tile from this week. It literally flowed out with no thoughts or planning which always makes me feel like a slacker! Slacking was awesome for me this week so it all worked out!
Tangled Tidbit -
That is the feeling of a tangler :)
*beautifully colored tangles

From Margarete Gilge (Germany) and here on her blog ~
congratulations to your 250th challenge!
And thank you for your idea with this two similar but wonderful versatile tanglepatterns. I drew two versions, one in b/w and a colored one. I think my first tile more looks like fireworks in the black nightly sky. The colored version could be interpreted in two direktions, fireworks or flowergarden. So I send you my first one, the second you can find on my blog under the link
Best wishes from Germany

Tangled Tidbit -
*star tipped Ahh, gorgeous variations of Ahh and Tira
Thank you, Margarete.

From Jody Genovese, CZT (New York) ~
Congratulations on IAST #250!!! That is quite an amazing accomplishment. I hope you had a Happy July 4th. My tile this week felt like it should be on a black tile as it definitely had a fireworks vibe to it.
Thank you for all of your hard work. I have no idea how you keep up with this every week. Sending you warm wishes.
Tangled Tidbit -
*glowing tangles on a black tile
Thank you, Jody!

From Ingrid (The Netherlands) ~
Congratulations on the 250th challenge. What a milestone!!!!!
Thank you so very much for your love and for every effort you put in every IAST challenge, week after week, year after year, to keep us inspired to tangle and that you share with us your many creative projects and personal milestones of your life. I deeply appreciate all that you do.
Cheers to you and (hopefully) many more years to come on our Zentangle journey that connects so many people. Love , love, love.
Tangled Tidbit -
*looped border compliments looped sting lines
Thank you, Ingrid.  Thank you for your love effort, too!

From Trudi (Woodview, Ontario, Canada) ~
Wow 250! Quite a feat Adele, congratulations. Thank you for all your work and patience. I wish I had a black tile nothing really shows up like fireworks in a black sky.
Tangled Tidbit -
*layered Tira and Ahh in multiple colors
Thank you, Trudi.  You inspire us - hope you are healing well.

From Sra (India) ~
Here’s the entry for IAST 250. Thanks for this wonderful event week after week.
Tangled Tidbit -
*raining tangles, white on black
Thank you, Sra - especially for your supportive comments over the years.

From Susie (St. Louis, Missouri) ~
Happy Birthday America!
Tangled Tidbit -
*beautiful variations of Ahh and Tira

From Mariam G. (Port Hueneme, California) ~
I found it amusing that my tile looks more like snow flakes (albeit 'yellow snow') than fireworks - but with the heatwave going on, perhaps that is more appropriate! I had to photograph this one in order for the 'sparkles' to show up.
I loved your end table, by the way. Thank you for sharing your creativity with us - it is inspiring.
Tangled Tidbit -
*touches of gold for both tangles
Thank you, Mariam.

From Lily (Hungary) ~
Dear Adele! Congratulations on 250 challenges! I'm grateful to you for all these fantastic challenges!
Tangled Tidbit -
*Tira florals shine against shaded aura
Thank you so very much, Lily.

From Sharyn Penna, CZT (Massachusetts) ~
Wowzer ... 250 IAST prompts ... and counting! And if that’s not amazing enough ...
Loved your table renovation, AND your new series ... where I tangle*** ... is inspiring! Henrike’s sweet, calm space is perfectly perfect and just what I want.
When I saw fireworks, I thought I should pull out my Sakura stardust pens and give it a go on a black zendala. My pens are getting old, had to deep six a few, but I’m happy with the blue, pink and silver. My favorite burst is the center bottom.
250 cheers ... and 250 thanks ... and counting ... for all the insight and inspiration.
Tangled Tidbit -
*zendala filled with sparkling tangle variations
Thank you, Sharyn, I cherish your "cheers"!

From Sue Agnew (Tucson, Arizona) ~
Congratulations on your 250th Tickled to Tangle! What a nice community you have created and what fun this is!
The funny thing in doing this tile is that when I do Ahhh I usually do all of them in exactly the same orientation ... so this time I consciously rotated the tile each time I drew one, and added them in random spots ... and they STILL came out looking pretty much parallel.
Thanks for 250 weeks of tangling! (I enjoy reading and thinking "hmm, never thought of that!" even when I don't submit a tile)

That was well said!  Thank you, Sue - for everything!
Tangled Tidbit -
*250 Ahh - how fun

From Sue Leslie (New Mexico) ~
Wow! 250! Such awesome work. Thanks Adele for what you do for all of us interested in Zentangle. I have really enjoyed the weekly challenge, though I can’t do it every week. So much fun to see what others do as well. Here is my tile for this special week. Fun with Tira a new tangle for me and Ahh which I love. Added a bit of AND too. Also a happy 4th to all our American tanglers and a big smile to all from the rest of the world. We as so in this together.
Tangling Tidbit -
*beautiful shade of blue accents the tangles
We are "so in this together", thank you Sue.

A very warm welcome to Allison Armstrong (Rocklin, California) ~
This is the first time I have managed to complete one of these. I had fun doing it. I used Ahh and Tira with Miasma and Merryweather.

Tangled Tidbit -
*Ahh shaded around the outer rim
So happy to have you join our IAST community and our Tangled Map, Allison ~

From Tonia C., CZT 30 (Rhode Island) ~
Congratulations Adele for reaching 250 challenges‼️I added Xplode to Ahh! and Tira. I used watercolor pencils to simulate fireworks in celebration. I also used a Sakura Glaze pen, received at CZT30, that does raised to add a 3-D effect. Hope you had a lovely 4th
Tangled Tidbit -
*multiple variations of Ahh and Tira
Congratulations on becoming a CZT!!

A very warm welcome to Dee (Toronto, Ontario, Canada) ~
Hi Adele, I am submitting for the first time, and I think I may have missed the deadline. Just in case, here is my tile for you to see anyway. I decided to try out the ribbon technique with Ahh and Tira. Thanks for introducing me to Ragged Ray's tangles, I will be playing with them lots in the future! Many thanks for your challenges.

So pleased to welcome you to our IAST community and to our Tangle Map, Dee ~

From Jenny Hopkins (Australia) ~
I hope I am not too late to congratulate you on IAST 250. That's an amazing achievement appreciated by all of us. Enjoy the celebration.
IAST = Isn't Adele So Terrific?
Aww, thank you for that, Jenny.
*Tira variations have sparkle, shading on the outer rim

From Felicity Strohfeldt (Velddrif, South Africa) and here on her blog ~
I was too late submitting my 249th tile so I’ve just included it this week. Time seems to catch me these days and sometimes I meet myself coming around the next corner! So my 250th participation happened thankfully instantaneously. Last year we celebrated our 50th anniversary on the 4th. How time flies and here we were celebrating 51 years together – we two oldies. So, fireworks from Tira and Ahh were very appropriate. Hence the instant tile 250 tile. Thank you, Adele for your inspiration and enthusiasm. 250 weeks! Wow! You are a star in all your participants’ universes.
Have a wonderful week all.

Congratulations on your anniversary!

Tangled Tidbit -
*fabulous variations of Ahh and Tira
Thank you so much, Felicity.

This is my tile ~
I used the string's loops for two large Tira.  Once they were drawn all semblance of the string disappeared.  Ahh sprung from Tira, a few smaller variations followed, a light touch of Ahh and then some dots.  I used Prismacolor pencils and Stardust Gelly Roll pens.  My gratitude flowed along the lower string line - words that can't quite capture what this community means to me.  I feel so blessed.  Thank you all.

Endless thanks to Rick Roberts and Maria Thomas for Ahh and this beloved art form that unites us and to Ragged Ray for her delightful Tira.

Check back tomorrow afternoon for the beginning of our next 250 challenges together!
