I am very excited to say that I am posting a ten part series on my latest summer project - I am anxious to show you what I have been tangling. Have fun following the progress and you may just want to try one yourself!
Part 1
I love the summertime for many reasons - time at the beach, visits from family and friends, a more relaxed schedule around the house - not to mention watermelon, corn on the cob, my husband's amazing burgers on the grill...yum!
It is also a time when we can get caught up on a project or two.
This summer, I was determined to complete a Zentangle® Ensemble that I purchased about two years ago. Yes, it has been sitting in my desk calling my name for a long time. I've finally given it the attention it deserves and over the next few weeks, I will post my completed tiles one at a time. When I am finished posting all nine of them, I'll frame them for the grand finale. There is nothing like a sense of accomplishment, is there?!
These ensembles are available on the Zentangle website. The two sets of nine pre-strung tiles, feature a string line by Maria Thomas - one curvy and one straight lined.
I chose to complete the curved one. This is what the package looks like - note the definition that Rick and Maria include~
Those words were both direction and inspiration. Each day I selected a tile at random and tangled it individually, knowing that in the end it would become part of the larger whole.
There is something very magical about working with a string that Maria drew.

When I finished tangling this, I added Beadline to finish off the edges.
Last summer I started a sort of ensemble - basing each tile on a book I was reading - it started well but sort of petered out. But I was new to Zentangle then and still getting to grips with it. Maybe I'll try something similar this year with more success - thanks as always for your encouragement!

ReplyDeleteI actually did that ensemble about a month ago as a birthday gift to my father. It's a challenge, but a lot of fun, especially if you don't put it all together until you've finished all nine. I can't wait to see how yours turns out!
